Raffaele Riva, Founder, Co-owner And Managing Partner

Raffaele Riva, was born in Rome, Italy, in 1968. He studied at the “Scuola di Teatri” of Rome and graduated with a degree in Dramaturgy from the University of Rome. He then moved to New York where he attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (AADA). AADA is an acting school that was founded by Sanford Meisner, who is considered one of the most influential teachers and directors in American acting. Riva later moved to Los Angeles where he worked as a stage manager for several productions including “The Diary of Anne Frank” and “The Elephant Man”.

Raffaele Riva founded The Renaissance Theatre Company with his wife Laura Gerstein on January 1st 2000 after they had worked together at The Actors Studio on Broadway. Riva also acted as a director for several productions during this period including “The Diary of Anne Frank” directed by Robert Falls and the Broadway production of “A Thousand Clowns” by Neil Simon which was directed by Jerry Zaks. He was also employed as a casting director and assistant stage manager during this period from 1999 to 2002.

In 2002 Raffaele Riva became Executive Producer for The Renaissance Theatre Company which had been renamed Renaissance Theatre Works until 2011 when it changed back to its original name under his leadership and management. He has been recognized for his work with numerous awards and nominations including being named “Producer Of The Year” at the 2006 Ovation Awards and a nomination for the “Producer of the Year” award at the 2007 Drama League Awards.

Raffaele Riva has also been nominated for an outstanding producer at the 2016 Stage Door Awards in New York City. In addition, he has been recognized as a “Producer to Watch” by The Hollywood Reporter, Broadway World, The Drama League and The Ovation Awards.
