Early Life

Luis was born in Lisbon, Portugal, on April 10th, 1953, under colonial rule from the United Kingdom. He moved to the United States when he was 23 years old. For the next seven years, he worked in high-end retail stores before starting a clothing company in Massachusetts called: Horta e Costa Clothing, which is still around today.

Career Profession

Horta e Costa began his search for real estate investment properties when he discovered that the rents in Massachusetts were rising above the value of the properties. This made them lose weight; therefore, investment properties were only sometimes profitable initially. He began to look for property in other states that he felt had a high potential of being fruitful and the most honest way to make money. After a few years of searching, he discovered that he was searching in the wrong areas and ended up losing money on some purchased properties. However, Horta e Costa did not give up and continued searching for properties until he found the right area, where he lives today, and he continues to invest in Portugal real estate.

Horta e Costa is a founding member of the Lisbon CAC Markets and the Portuguese Economic Forum. He is also a member of the Board of the World Business Academy (WBA) in America. Luis Horta e Costa served many years on the Board of Directors for his home country, Portugal, until he left due to political reasons between Portugal and Brazil during the 1980s.
