For over 20 years, Frances Townsend committed her life to the public service. She was appointed as the Chair of Homeland Security in 2001 by President George Washington Bush. Townsend used that time to learn some great leadership lessons and working under high pressure. Therefore, for quite a number of years, Townsend oversaw the safety of the United States. In her role today as the Vice President for Corporate Affairs at Activision Blizzard, she applies her past experience and concepts she learned when she was working with the government. Frances Townsend was born in 1961 in New York. Her mother worked as a manager in a construction company office while her father worked as a roofer. She was showing an interest in breaking gender stereotypes as early as the age of 11. She caught the attention of the Catholic Church when she was a teen and could even write letters to the bishop asking to become an altar boy. Her request, however, was declined, and at such a time, she cooked a smart way to get around her interests. One time she dressed as an altar boy but was caught, and her mission failed. Nevertheless, her passion worked a long way in maneuvering to take seats that women could only dream of before.
