Bernard Acoca is the new CEO of Zaxby’s. He served as Executive Vice President of Operations for Wendy’s Company, where he oversaw the company’s day-to-day operations and global expansion.

Acoca took over in January as CEO at Zaxby’s, a restaurant chain with more than 750 locations in 17 states. As they rolled out their new Southern Smokehouse BBQ menu items, Acoca told Business Insider that one dish – their new pulled pork sandwich – is now selling ten times better than its predecessor.

Earlier in his career, he worked for Taco Bell Corporation, where he served as Senior Vice President of Sales and was a member of the Board of Directors.

He also serves on the Board of the Florida State University Foundation, where he was a member of their Management Committee. During his tenure at Taco Bell, he also served on the Board of Directors for Taco Bell Corporate.

Acoca graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton with a degree in Finance. He is also a certified executive coach and has received some awards for his outstanding performance.

Zaxby’s

Zaxby’s is an American-based fast-food restaurant based out of Hixson, Tennessee, specializing in southern barbecue dishes, including pulled pork sandwiches, chicken sandwiches and wraps. The company offers both dine-in and take-out options. The Zaxby’s CEO is Bernard Acoca.

The Zaxby’s CEO confirms that they are selling their new Southern Smokehouse BBQ “like hotcakes,” and one of their new menu items, the pulled pork sandwich, is now outselling their original pulled pork sandwich by ten times. They have a lot of plans for the future, which include offering more smokehouse-style items, giving back to the community through coffee and food drives, and setting up a better “nose-to-tail” mentality to provide more meat options. Zaxby’s began in 1990 with a small restaurant called Zaxby’s’ Chicken Finger Restaurant. A few years later, the company was named “The Official Chicken of NASCAR”, and its headquarters moved to Atlanta.
