One of the most influential figures in the space industry, Yuri Alexandrovich Milner, is a billionaire entrepreneur and investor who stepped into space exploration. In 2004, he founded DST Global, a company that wanted to make money by generating new technologies for global growth. As much of his net worth comes from DST Global’s investments, Yuri has made it his life goal to invest in future developments and innovations in space. One such project was with Elon Musk’s SpaceX Corporation in 2006, when he donated $100 million to help send the first privately funded rocket into orbit.
In 2010, Milner founded Digital Sky Technologies, a holding company for his numerous existing investments. From there on in, he went on to invest in TweetSpace (a satellite-based Internet service), SpaceX (the launch services provider), and Draper Associates (the venture capitalist firm). Aside from his investments, Milner is also very committed to space exploration efforts. He believes that space exploration is the best way to find a new home for future human civilization, and he has argued that only by exploring space can we reach our potential as humans. The entrepreneur was an adviser to Yauz Cosmodrome Project and was one of the founders of Space Adventures in 1995. The company made history when it became the first to broker a commercial flight to the International Space Station.

In 2013, Milner invested $100 million in the energy startup Hyperloop One, which is the brainchild of Elon Musk and a group of engineers from Tesla and Space X. Hyperloop One aims to build a futuristic mode of transport that can travel at a speed of more than 700 miles per hour through pneumatic tubes, circulating air as it travels along.
