Kelcy Warren was born in 1955 in Texas, the United States, where his father worked as a ditch digger for an oil company, Sun Oil. Kelcy says he is proud of his father even though his father only had a high school education. The father was not easily driven, consented to his job, and was remarkable.

On the other hand, Warren’s mother grew up in Louisiana in the United States and used to work in a department store.

On Sundays, Kelcy Warren attended The Baptist church service twice with his family in their small town. During his school period, his father was the president of the school board, and when Warren was in high school, his mother served as the president of the PTA. Though both his parents were employed, they always thought of making an extra income to cater to their growing family.

At the age of twelve, Kelcy Warren used to work on the fields hauling hay and at a gas station where he would earn thirty cents an hour.

In 1978, Warren graduated with a civil engineering degree and was hired by Lone Star Gas Company as a pipeline design engineer. In 1981, Warren moved to Endevco, a small energy development firm. In 1992, after acquiring Endevco with a partner, they immediately changed the company’s name to Cornerstone Natural Gas and sold it later after four years. He is the co-founder of Energy Transfer Partners, became its chairperson.

In 1997, Warren came up with an endowment in honor of Qasim, the professor who took a personal interest in him and his fellow learners.

Warren belongs to the Texas Business Hall of Fame and has hosted an annual fundraiser for Cherokee Crossroad, then financiers’ charities to children all over Texas. Through his great successes in his career, Kelcy Warren believes that success is something he will always strive for.
