Evvy Demystifies The Vaginal Microbiome
The microbiome has become a bit of a buzzword these days, but what is it and why is it important?
The short answer is a microbiome is an ecosystem of trillions of bacteria, viruses, and fungi living inside and on the body. These hitchhikers love warm and moist areas like the gut, mouth, armpits, and vagina, just to name a few.

These microbial intruders are actually very important to the function and health of the human body, but they are not all good. For example, Gardnerella bacteria is the cause of Bacterial Vaginosis(BV), the most common vaginal problem that ails 1 in 3 women in the United States. There is always going to be some Gardnerella bacteria but the problem occurs when the bad guys outweigh the good guys.
But there is good news! Evvy is closing the information gap with their at-home vaginal health test. It is now possible to “keep tabs” on these pesky bacterias!
Evvy was launched in July 2021 by two Stanford undergrads, Priyanka Jain and Laine Bruzek. And their mission is to build a new understanding of the female body starting with the vagina. They are empowering women to take control of their own health with just a swab!
